Serving Children with Developmental & Medical Special Needs
Since 1947, the Schwartz Center for Children has served as Southeastern Massachusetts' only independent, community based provider of education, therapy, and medical care for children with special medical and developmental needs. Our experienced and professional direct care staff offers many services including: occupational, physical, speech and language therapy, medical intervention, and developmental screenings. We are committed to addressing the needs of families and providing support on an individualized basis, tailoring services to the needs of each child and family.
Established in 1947 by our founder, Agnes “Posa” Raposa, we have been providing these much needed services to area children and families for well over 60 years. Our flagship programs include Early Intervention, a private Day School, Outpatient Rehabilitation, Regional Consultation, and Specialty Clinics.
Since our inception as a parent run advocacy and service group, our basic principles and mission have not changed. Our goal is to help each child reach their greatest potential.
The Schwartz Center for Children is a partner agency of the United Way of Greater New Bedford ![]()
