Pennies for a Purpose
Schwartz Center students are currently collecting coins to donate to the Wings of Hope school in Haiti. Wings of Hope serves Haitian children with disabilities, and their building suffered structural damage in the recent earthquake. Please help us give to them by dropping off donations at the SCFC or online at heartswithhaiti.org.

Family University - Winter 2010 Semester 

Family University
, 3 different educational group programs for parents/guardians and siblings of special needs children.

Social Skills 101 (8 week program): An integrated program focused on teaching preschoolers on the autism spectrum age appropriate social skills such as eye contact, taking turns and peer awareness. These will be 2 hour-long sessions held twice weekly. Led by Schwartz Center educational staff. Please contact Kim Wilmot, kwilmot@schwartzcenter.org, 508.996.3391 x248 to schedule an initial assessment for your child. Starting February 22nd.

Parenting Group (4 week program): A program designed to explore what it means to be a parent to both your special needs and typically abled children. Receive insights and strategies on ways to improve family communication and functioning.  Led by Dr. Elizabeth Richardson of UMass Dartmouth.
Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Starting March 30th.

Sibling Group (4 week program): A private group for the typically abled siblings of special needs needs children, ages 8 +. These sessions will allow siblings to connect with others in like situations and explore what it means to have a special needs brother or sister. Led by Dr. Richard Rende of Brown University Medical School and Butler Hospital.
Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Starting March 30th.

 Upcoming Clinics:

Bracing/Seating and Mobility Clinic -In collaboration with New England Orthotics and Prosthetics. Seating and Mobility Clinics are in collaboration with Design Able and National Seating and Mobility.

Held on the second Wednesday of the month. 

Genetics Clinic - The Schwartz Center for Children is a satellite site for National Birth Defects Foundation.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialty Clinic - In affiliation with Tufts Medical Center, providing comprehensive medical evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses.

Held on the second Wednesday of every month.

Trainings, Workshops and Groups

SNIN- Special Needs Information Network
Join this group of parents on the first Wednesday of each month to share, educate, support and laugh. This group is active in educating the public and each other of issues involving families of children with special needs. Please contact us at (508) 996-3391 for detailed information.

Family Involvement Committee
Meets every first Thursday of each month from 5:30-7:00 pm to find creative ways to involve all famalies of the center in educational, supportive, fun family activities. Open to all parents.
