The Schwartz Center for Children of Dartmouth was recognized with the 2011 SouthCoast Education Leadership Award by the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce during the Chamber’s 125th Annual Meeting & Business Luncheon on November 17, 2011.
This award recognizes one business or organization each year that has demonstrated a long-term commitment to improving education opportunities for students in the South Coast region. The recipient of the award is selected by a committee from the Chamber’s Greater New Bedford Connecting Activities Partnership.
The Schwartz Center for Children was selected based on their community involvement, especially its support of young people. For the past several years, high school interns from the Greater New Bedford Connecting Activities Partnership have had the opportunity to learn through observation of professional therapists and teachers who provide education, therapy, and medical care for children with special medical and developmental needs.
